Letter from the Mayor

Thank you for your interest in Chicago Science in the City, the City’s annual free event designed to showcase the importance of science and technology in our daily lives and encourage the pursuit of science education.

This year’s theme for Chicago Science in the City is “The Science of Sports”, a theme that focuses on an important aspect of science that is often overlooked, and builds on the excitement of Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“Chicago Science in the City 2008: The Science of Sports” is a one-day interactive and hands-on event where participants of all ages will discover the scientific principles behind many of their favorite athletic activities, including baseball, skating, tennis, and general exercise, to name just a few.  A broad range of experts and athletes will also discuss the importance of science in sports events and training, and in sports-related careers.

I strongly encourage you and your family to participate in this exciting day of activities and education.

Sincerely,

Richard M. Daley
