Molecular Mechanisms in Alzheimer’s Disease

The enzyme BACE1 is responsible for generating the toxic protein beta-amyloid that accumulates as amyloid plaques in the brain and likely triggers Alzheimer’s disease. Vassar will describe his research on BACE1 and discuss how this enzyme may hold the key to Alzheimer’s disease treatment in the future.
